AT LAST, the sun has finally made an appearance, the world seems a brighter place and everything is looking and smelling glorious.

I am very excited to announce that I shall be providing botanical and scented experiences at the BBC Gardeners' WorldLive at NEC Birmingham, running from Wednesday, 12 June to Sunday, 16 June, 9am to 6pm daily.   In addition, for the gourmets and gastronomists among you,  ticket price includes free admission to the BBC Good Food Show Summer, the best 'twofer' deal this year!

You can find me and my 'Adventures in Scent' stand firmly planted in the Royal Horticultural Society's  "Seeds of Knowledge area".  I am just packing up my final selection of essential oils and other aromatic botanicals in readiness for the Workshopsand Talks I will be offering at the show.

The Language of Flowers

  • Thursday 13th June          10.30-10.50am

A fascinating peek into the history of  the "Language of Flowers’, its role in Victorian courtship and hidden communication and how the subject has inspired the creative arts.  A selection of aromas will be on hand to enhance your experience.

Beauty and the Bee

  • Friday 15th June             4.00-4.20pm
  • Sunday 16th June            1.00-1.20pm

A talk promoting the importance of bees and their role in biodiversity and pollination .  A chance to sample bee products, find out about their use in health, beauty and perfumery and share tips to encourage bee-friendly planting.

Lavender - To love or to loathe

The panacea of herbs, we shall rediscover the beauty of Lavender,  explore three varieties and its culinary role and longstanding use in health and beauty.  Smell a selection of Lavender oils, discover a chef's essence and leave with inspiring recipes.

Seduction, Power, Poison and Pleasure

Taking a fragrant, whistle stop tour through plant history, via ancient civilisations to the royal courts delving into how plants were used to trade,  seduce, maim, heal and beautify.  Aromatic materials will be used to accompany your journey.
