ScentSational Books - A London Bookclub

  • Drake and Morgan The Fable Bar, 52 Holborn Viaduct EC1A 2BN London (map)

More than a book club: an immersive sensory storytelling journey. We match each title with smells, sips  and small sensory rituals.

I love books, I love smells and I am fascinated by the use of olfactive imagery and scent language in books. So, I’ve combined my passions to create a London bookclub; welcome to ScentSational Books – a bookclub all about fragrance as a literary muse; whether smell or perfume form the backbone of a fictional story, or the use of olfactive language is richly evocative, transporting us to a different era, country or mood! We shall also explore non-fiction books such as biographies, botanical histories, and some more tenuous titles!

Whether it’s ‘a story about a murderer’; a Chanel biography or an historical novel weaving in rich allusions to scent language and fragrant passages, I hope to offer an immersive, inspiring and engaging experience.

So if you are smell-curious, a book-lover, budding writer, or simply seeking olfactory inspiration and escape, then a warm and fragrant welcome to you.

We shall celebrate each book and our subliminal sense with a fragrant pairing supplied by me to enhance your immersive reading experience!

There will be a fee of £11.00 for attending each event . This will include a drink at the venue and an organisers fee and any scent samples provided. This ensures that we are supporting the venue and any costs that occur in supporting the book club, so we can continue to run this going forward.

  • Frequency: every 4-6 weeks on a Tuesday evening

  • Venue: Locations may change but I will always aim for central London

  • Timings: 90min-2hours, meet time 6.30pm-8.30pm

Our first meet and launch will be held in Drake and Morgan's, The Fable Bar where you can meet me, find out more about the Book Club, what we will be reading, its future plans and a fragrant goodie.
