Sacred Smoke - The Art of Incense

  • Walworth Gardens 206 Manor Place London SE17 3BN London (map)

Aromatic plants have been used as incense for thousands of years in rituals for purification, ceremony, spiritual enlightenment, devotion and pleasure. Today with 5,000 years of tradition and aesthetic refinement at its core the use of incense is reaching new levels of popularity.

Join me for a unique one day session exploring the ancient devotional art of incense. This creative, practical workshop focusses on using premium fragrant materials such as resins (Frankincense, Myrrh) herbs, fruits, flowers, seeds, woods, spices and essential oils selected for their therapeutic, historic, esoteric and fragrant resonance.

You will:

  • be introduced via smell and touch to a variety of plant botanicals

  • Understand their history and uses

  • discover how to select and blend them to create your own unique incense

We shall make two sets of incense, the first will be a batch of incense cones made in small groups, followed by guidance on making your own recipe of loose incense where you will be able to select your own ingredients to suit your personal intention.

** Please note cones require approximately 24-36 hours to fully dry out at home. So please bring a shallow Tupperware box or similar container to store and transport your cones safely.

Price £85.00 / Free for Southwark Residnets

Fee includes all tuition, all materials, equipment and your bespoke loose incense and cones to take home.
