Join me for this one-day workshop to explore the sombre, supernatural elements of perfume ingredients and botanicals associated with the gothic genre, be they sensuous spices, redolent resins, creeping greenery and lichen covered stone, fey-like flowers, damp forest floors, or hypnotic herbs and beguiling smoke!
This is a relaxed, sensory-fuelled, hands-on day. You will be encouraged to cast your net of creativity wide and capture elusive ideas to bottle! Whether you wish to recreate a fragrance worthy of a cape- swirling, crypt-dwelling night walker; the velvet lushness of a siren’s dress, or the cool transparent veil of an ethereal wraith - prepare to have fun and unleash the scented beast within!
The day will include:
Introductory discussion on ‘gothic’ inspirations, and how it applies to perfume
Access to variety of visual inspiration from art, literature, fashion, film, history etc
Understanding perfume vocabulary – the art of smelling and training the nose
Discussion of perfume structure – Top, Middle, Base notes
Explore a diverse palette of the familiar, unusual and exotic natural ingredients and aroma compounds (such as exotic florals, visionary herbs, roots, woods and entrancing spices)
Secrets and tips on blending & dilutions
Personal guidance and support to create a perfume blend to match your creative vision.
